Bumps & Bruises

With how energetic Jack Jack is now, I can't help it when he injures himself. Usually, he would bump his head or get a scratch from something. I feel guilty and would always blame myself because I'm a mother. It's just terrible. I hope that I can always shield him from harms way. The idea of Bubble Boy will always come into my mind. Perhaps a baby helmet?

Anyways, the little twerp recently just had his biggest bruising ever! I hope there wouldn't be a bump bigger than this in the future. See above image.

From this, I thought about talking about first aids. I'm not an expert or a doctor but here's from my experience:

1. Ice. I use ice to apply to any bump he gets. Make sure you have a clothe or towel between the ice and the skin when applying. Otherwise, baby can get ice burn.

2. Propolis. It's what I use for skin irritations and infections. Good for relief of persistent skin rashes, skin itches, insect bites, infected wounds & burns. It can be purchased here.

3. Hirudoid Cream. For bruises that cannot be remedied by the ice.

As of now, this is my list. I always have the good old alcohol and betadine at hand wishing I would never use them besides disinfecting.

About the bruise, it didn't get this red until 2 days later. It was hard and warm if you feel it by hand. His doctor gave us antibiotics for it and required to apply hot compress. She says the bruising occurred inside the skin. After 2 days of antibiotics, the hardness is gone and the redness is clearing up but I still have 5 more days of antibiotics.

I know the the bruising hurts but I'm glad that it didn't cause him to have a fever from the pain. He just became a bit warm after his flu shot was administered last Friday.

  1. This made me remember the time when Jamjam fell off the bed. Even when she's asleep, she still rolls over the bed. Just thinking of it makes me feel guilty. Oh well, I've learned my lesson.. the hard way.
