Little Big Sister

Portia, the little big sister, has learned how to behave on the bed. Every night, after putting Jack Jack to sleep, Portia can be allowed on the bed. Like how she used to, she would run around the bed before finding a spot for her to sleep on.

She's are real grown up now and she's never had any accidents on the bed since we moved. She knows pretty well that she's not allowed to go near Jack Jack although sometimes he gets real curious and try to smell him.

If ever Jack Jack wakes up for his night feedings, he would immediately go to another spot beside my feet. She would lick your fingers or snuggle next to you if you are feeling down.

I'm lucky to have sweet children...

Car Sick

The other day, I took Portia and Rocky to the vet. This is the second time they went to the vet together. The first time was three weeks ago. We just got Rocky the night before and I wanted him checked and vaccinated. I took Portia along to have her checked also and her vaccines are about the expire as well but I was surprised to find out that Rocky's healthier than she is. While they gave Rocky his shots, Portia was prescribed with antibiotics and vitamins.

This recent visit to the vet, both were healthy and the shots we're given to them. I should take them back there after two weeks. My only problem is that Rocky's got motion sickness. I wasn't aware of that being possible with dogs but then Rocky is car sick. My heart was breaking on our way to the vet since he kept on salivating and crying at the backseat. He kept on making his way in front of the car but I just don't want him there as I am driving. I was thankful we got there safely and without any traffic incident but I was covered in Rocky's breakfast that morning.

Anyways, the way back home was better - except Portia who was dying of jealousy inside her carrier. Rocky layed on my lap while I was driving - still salivating - with his head on my left arm. He fell asleep on the later part of the trip. Awww...

Buzzer Beater

Today, I just wanted to rant about this annoyingly stubborn kids who've just rang our doorbell. Jack Jack was sound asleep and thank heavens the sound did not awaken him even if it meant that Portia and Rocky would bark as well. I turned off the switch for the darn doorbell. No more buzzing in! Grrr!

In other news, my posts wouldn't be as much as these past few weeks as I'm currently working on a new project. As if anybody would care... I'll try to post as much as I can. I'll let you know how it turns out but for now, I'm not telling.

Our New Baby

Please welcome the newest addition to our family! We named him Rocky since he'd be our guard dog. He's so cute and sweet and cuddly that I don't feel like letting him sleep outside. But that's where he should be heart breaking as it seem.

I took him and Portia to the vet for his shots. Portia's got cold and he's healthy enough for the vaccines.

Sleeping through the night

For my first birthday as a mother, I talked to Jack Jack. I told him my only wish would be to have a decent sleep. Guess what? I didn't get to sleep that night. Unless you would consider napping as sleeping. :P

Anyways, until now I can't really say that he's already sleeping through the night but it's easier now. At least, I've gotten rid of the really sleepless nights where I don't know what he wants and what to do. Now, Jack Jack's shortest sleep would be 2-3 hours! Hooray! Before it was 30 minutes. Imagine the headache!

Portia's also happy because she can sleep on the bed, too!

Baby Out!

Apparently, I've hit a wall after the previous post. I didn't want to do anything but nothing. I don't want to blog. All I want to do is to give birth which didn't happen until two months later. The baby's getting heavier and heavier everyday and it is really getting harder to sleep and move. I couldn't go anywhere without anybody saying something. As if, they could stop me! Huh!
With the date way past my EDD, I guess it would only be normal (unless I've elephant genes) that I've already given birth. hehe! We were all so excited about the baby and with all these, I don't have the time for blogging. Sorry. Or maybe I haven't found a way to sneak away from my baby to blog. Another reason is that I'm trying not to stress myself. I'm scared na mabinat.

I gave birth to Jack Jack last May 15 via Normal Delivery (as in all natural) at the Medical City. He weighed 6 lbs. 15 oz. He was 20 inches in length. I've been exclusively breastfeeding eversince.

Here's what happened:

May 14

8:30am
- woke up with a bloody show sa undies ko. it's red so hubby and i decided to call my ob. she told me to observe muna before going to the hospital. wala naman masakit sa akin so we waited for a while.

11:00am

11:30am
- we went to the hospital. dahil nga red blood yung lumabas, naaalarma na rin ako. 1cm na daw ako. they did NST and biophysical ultrasound on me tapos my ob gave them my go home order. kala ko iire na ko e. ob said if hindi nagprogress, iiinduce na daw ako tomorrow.

3pm
- pagdating sa bahay. i walked for 45 minutes inside the house. naiinis kasi ako dahil wala akong nararamdaman. parang hindi pa ko manganganak. tapos iniisip ko kung magandang araw ba ito para manganak? hehe! after the walk, feeling ko mapupupu ako na hindi. parang constipated. yun na daw yun sabi ng mommy ko.

4pm
- pinaliguan ko pa si portia - our first baby na chihuahua. baka kapag nanganak ako hindi ko na magawa yun e.

6pm
- hubby and i started to count how long the contraction intervals are. meron pero magkakalayo pa sila.

May 15

12mn

12:30am
- bumalik na kami sa medical city. i was 4cm dilated when they performed IE on me. nagNST ako ulit and it seems that everything's fine naman.

1am

2am
- ipinasok na nila ko sa lamaze room. i was trying to walk around kaso pinahiga nila ako para kabitan ulit ng fetal monitor. tapos kinabitan din ako ng swero.

2:30am

5:30am
- fully dilated na raw ako so we started to push. may 2 doctors silang tinawag to coach me with the pushing. itinaas nila yung patungan ng paa para ipush ng feet ko and yung side rails nun bed ipinapa-pull naman sa kamay ko (ngayon naalala ko na kung bakit ang sakit ng shoulders ko after). ganun pinagawa nila sa kin while pushing the baby. there's this instance na bigla silang nagready lahat. sabi ko ayus lalabas na si baby. kaso bigla ko naramdaman yung contraction, and i have the urge to push. sumisigaw na ko asking them if i can push na. baka kasi mahulog baby ko wala sila lahat sa pwesto. nun bumalik sila nagpush kami ulit. when i talked to ob the next day, she told me nakacord coil daw si baby. kaya pala iniwan nila ako.

6:45am
- baby out!!!

Sulit!!!

After that, ni-cross stitch na nila ako. Hehe!

Pina-room-in namin si baby the next day which I can't figure out whether it was a good decision or not. Good decision because I don't have to sit the baby for a day and the people from the nursery assisted me during breastfeeding. Bad decision because we have problems with latching. Almost 24 hours had passed before Jack Jack was able to successfully latch and breastfeed. This is bad because I had to go to the nursery every now and then. The result? Wala rin akong pahinga. I actually instructed them to call me anytime (even in the middle of the night) just so we could try to feed him. Whew! Finally, we were able to do so.

May 17 we went home na. Medyo magulo dahil madami palang adjustments na kailangan namin gawin. I have two babies na. Portia would have to stay muna sa cage nya dahil si Jack Jack naman ang itatabi namin. Sometimes, she helps with babysitting pa!

Ang bait ng panganay ko no?! Hehehe! Kapag maginaw and I needed a "hot compress" sya lagi ang hug ko. Baka mapisak! Si Portia, magaling umilag yan kapag madadaganan mo. At gigisingin ka pa if she needs to go potty.

Akala ko ready na ko maging mommy. Ang dami dami ko pang kinailangang matutunan and I'm pretty sure it's still not enough.

Here's another picture of my son. Sinong kamukha?

Portia Knows How To Swim!

Okay, so I promised before I'd be posting videos of Portia swimming from our Dumaguete trip. Here they are now. Enjoy!

Practice muna:

In the jacuzzi:

Sa pool:

Hubby actually doesn't want Portia to swim. Naaawa daw sya. It's in their survival instinct naman that they know how to swim. So there, she learned it by just putting her on water. I wish it is the same with humans.

Portia's Puberty

May period na kasi sya.

We bought the smallest diaper we could find. It's actually extra small in size but still too big for her size. She can remove th diaper in a blink of an eye so we decided to reinforce it with diaper clips and a bit of masking tape. With this, she is still allowed to sleep on the bed. Otherwise, she'd be spending the night in her cage.

Ticklish Kicks

Since the baby has been kicking and having hiccups inside my womb every now and then, I've just discovered the kicking could tickle. I thought it would be just a bump - no more no less. However, the baby kicks on my sides which is a ticklish part for me. And so, hubby would often ask me why I would suddenly laugh without an obvious reason. In short, para na kong luka-luka ngayon.

Everyday, the kicks are getting stronger and more distinguishable. Unlike before that it was just a faint bump and beat here and there. Portia has gotten used to the kicks as well. She's not distracted when the baby moves or kicks her while she's sleeping on my belly.

That's not my belly, BTW.

Portia: the Actress

You think you can get away with these looks? Think again...

Can you say no to that?

Apparently, you will end up picking her up and placing her on your lap.

And then you're trapped! Turns out you can't move from your place because it will break your heart when she makes a silent howl that indicates you have disturbed her then goes back to sleep. I have been trying so hard to upload the videos since Saturday but it seems that YouTube isn't on my side.

Works so effectively for hubby and I. We can't seem to bear doing all these antics - most especially for hubby. She also sleeps with us on the bed - I'm not sure how she manages to avoid being rolled on by hubby or me...

Don't worry though. She makes cute hiccup sounds when she's dreaming. She snores, too. Really cute...

I'll try to upload the videos when I can.

Portia's Traveling Carrier

We couldn't bear to leave Portia behind during our trips so hubby and I brought her along. We made sure that she would go swiftly, comfortably and problem-free as possible during our flight.

Now, if you're planning on going on a trip with you pet and you don't have the option of putting them up for boarding, here is an Airline Travel Checklist. Let me know if you have questions.

Here are pictures of Portia's new carrier and dog tag.

I took these pictures when we got back here in Manila. Kaya lamog na yung carrier!

The dog tag I got from Tiendesitas. It's only P72 for 2 and had them embossed at Megamall for her name and my number.

Wait lang kayo for videos of Portia swimming. Sa jacuzzi at pool!

I'm Back!!!

I know I'm not blogging at all these last few months. It's mostly because I got lazy. Pregnant women needs all the rest. Also, I'm finishing all the tasks that needed to be done. You see, I never got to do this before I got pregnant so please accept my excuse for not blogging. hehehe!

All I wanted to do was eat, sleep and surf all day but that's just not acceptable. I'm pregnant but I feel a pang of guilt if night comes and I did nothing but dinner. Being SAH may sound boring to you but believe me when I say I couldn't finish anything I planned on working on.

I was able to try on the jeans that I've put away before. Only 3 can fit but cannot be zipped up anymore. D'oh! Needless to say, my belly has grown in a snap including my ass. Yep, the PJ's I have before are now called leggings! I've also boxed up the jogging pants which I use for belly dancing since I do not want them stretched to my pregnant size and never be able to use them post pregnancy.

Portia, on the other hand, is the number one bad influence when it comes to laziness. Once you see her during her daily naps, I'm pretty sure you'd want to take a nap too. I'd fill you in every now and then with what has happened. I'll be posting pictures of my grown belly, Papa's birthday, Christmas, New Year, our Tagaytay road trip and Dumaguete trip.

Oh, here's a picture of us sleeping. Now, that's making me sleepy already.

Baby Love

If you will notice there is actually two widgets I have for our babies. We made a new addition to the family last week - someone to keep me company. She just loves to sleep on my belly. Isn't she just adorable?

Anyways, the main point of this post is my check-up this morning. I had an ultrasound for the second time but it's not transvaginal anymore (what a relief!). Hubby was able to capture a video while she was moving. It looks like she's stretching and waving at us.

Hubby was so excited the whole time because of the movements - I wish you could hear the audio. Hehehe!

OB said her spine is in tact, fingers are complete as well. Placenta is high-lying and fetal heart rate is at 153 bpm. Baby is at least 2.5 inches already. I weigh around 46 kgs - highest I have in record. It's a hundred pounds at home though.

I have given up all of my jeans - to which everybody is opposing for me to wear even if I don't button it down anymore. Now all I have a PJ's and leggings (from dancing class) to wear. I want to go to Divi!!!

Here's another video (just couldn't get enough of it!!):

(See my belly button?!!)

P.S. Happy birthday Mama!
